We're looking for a SAP Development Lead, to join our client on an initial 6 month contract, based in Melbourne, working across a large, enterprise-scale environment. As the SAP Development Lead, you’ll take ownership of end-to-end development outcomes across a complex landscape.
You’ll be accountable for SAP development delivery across the broader environment, providing technical leadership, delivery accountability, and governance oversight across internal teams, captive resources, and strategic service partners.
You’ll ensure SAP solutions are fit for purpose, secure, scalable, and aligned to business outcomes, while continuously uplifting engineering standards, delivery maturity, and team capability.
This is: what you’ll do
- Own SAP Development outcomes, ensuring quality, timeliness, and production readiness
- Set direction, drive accountability, and enable high-quality delivery at scale
- Set the technical direction across SAP Development, including ECC and S/4HANA landscapes
- Act as the key technical lead for design decisions, trade-offs, and approvals
- Lead multi-vendor development delivery across onshore, offshore, and captive teams
- Establish and enforce standards across ABAP, HANA, and integration patterns
- Govern code quality, reviews, and development best practices
- Drive continuous improvement across development practices, tooling, and automation
- Enable adoption of modern SAP approaches including Fiori, UX transformation, and DevOps
- Build long-term SAP engineering capability across teams and partners
This is: what you’ll need
- 10+ years’ SAP development experience across ABAP, ABAP OO, and core SAP technologies
- Strong experience across SAP ECC modules (FI, SD, MM, PP, HR) and S/4HANA environments
- Proven expertise in IDOCs, BAPIs, RFCs, enhancements (user exits, BADIs), and web services
- Experience with Fiori, Personas, and modern SAP UX concepts
- Solid understanding of HANA-optimised development principles
- Proven experience managing vendors and offshore development teams
- Strong ability to translate technical complexity into business outcomes
- Comfortable operating as a technical leader
- Lead SAP development across a large, complex enterprise landscape
- High-impact role with ownership of technical direction and delivery outcomes
- Work across modern SAP technologies including S/4HANA and Fiori
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders across digital, architecture, and business teams
